Beyond the Call – Courtesy of Only Human

February 2, 2012

Moya of Only Human posted the following in the comments on the about us page. I wanted to be sure that all of our viewers could see the information she shared so I have posted it below.

Hi from Australia,

Great site, thank you. A couple of years ago we collected a book of stories from vets and their families here for our Government Dept of Veterans Affairs. Our main intention was to focus on vets and their families and how they cope on the return from service, including mental health issues they face. (About the project herehttp://www.onlyhuman.com.au/featured/beyond-the-call/)

We spoke with families from World War 2 right up to Iraq: peace keepers and active service people alike and we wanted to discover what had changed and what hadn’t.. in the way our community and governments offer support. I imagine they would ring bells in your country also. The stories are here and can be downloaded in PDF’s.

Also I am including a link to a short video we shot of the World War 2 vet and his wife. He is 90 years old and their insights and reflections are very beautiful.

Where would we be without the “real heroes” of the Armed Forces?
