Honoring & Remembering our Fallen Heroes – Killed in Vietnam February 1st 1968

There were more than 60 soldiers lost in the Vietnam War on this day in 1968. Please take some time to read through, to remember, and to honor these heroes. If you knew any of these individuals and would like to share memories or add some words, please feel free to do so in the comment area. Even if you did not know them personally and would like to leave a few words, please do. I just want them to be remembered. I want their families and friends to know that they will never be forgotten.

I graciously thank all of them for their service. My father was also in Vietnam fighting and received a purple heart. My uncles and a lot of my family are currently in the service, and I forever appreciate what they sacrifice.

I was 11 when my cousin, Tommy Gonzalas went to Vietnam, 12 when we buried him. It began the journey for me of trying to understand the horrific and tragic reality of War. Still working on it.
Raven I am so sorry that you lost your cousin. I know it is difficult we will likely spend the rest of our lives trying to work these things out within ourselves. If you would like to do a memorial post for your cousin we would be so happy to have the opportunity to honor him here.

What an horrific loss to so many families this day … and everyday thereafter for so very long. Tina, I know that I have said this before to you but it really cannot be said enough. And I guess that I am not saying this to you so much as for each of those lost on this day. Each man who fought in Vietnam is a hero to me, each and everyone of them. Each loss hurts. I can not imagine how terrible each loss still hurts for their families … today.
Every loss does hurt and I know that those families still hurt. All we can do is try to keep their memories alive and honor them every day. The long list makes me very sad to look at but at the same time I think it is important to read every name, aloud, and take a moment to just think about who they were, who they might have been.
Things only got worse from there. What a tragic loss of young lives.
